Seeing Keturah & Lord Death on my bookshelf brings back the memory of a summer evening. The two authors in question who spoke eloquently and beautifully about the magic contained in Keturah and Lord Death are Kaz Mahoney and Tessa Gratton. €�You are too young to marry, Keturah,” Lord Death's rich voice reached Keturah's ears, “And too young to die…Therefore, I will give you a boon: choose whom you will to die in your place so that you may live” (Leavitt, 2006, p. I mean, really, falling in love with Death? I had spotted a stag grazing in the raspberry patch. Martine Leavitt's “Keturah and Lord Death,” which was a finalist last fall for a National Book Award, is a good addition to my catalog of excellent YA books. When Lord Death comes to collect her, she finds out he is a handsome and interesting man. And yet, Keturah grew up happy developing her pie-making skills and telling stories. But, when she turns 16, she follows the hart into the forest, and loses her way, wandering for days until Lord Death finds her. Here is a list of book club discussion questions for Keturah and Lord Death. This was a good story, well done, interesting..and certainly a different take. I have lots of favs, but one at the top of my list is Keturah and Lord Death by Marine Leavitt (makes me cry every time). I moved closer, he stopped and checked my approach.
